The power line \”Alytus – Kruonis HAE\” will be built \”Žilinskis ir Co\”

The construction of a new power transmission line stretching from Alytus to Kruonis Pumped Storage Power Plant will start in mid-November. The first permits for the line’s construction were issued this week. This will be the second 330 kV new construction power line built in Lithuania since the restoration of the country’s independence. The first one was built between Klaipėda and Telšiai in 2014.

The new power line will play an important role in ensuring the reliable exchange of electricity between   Lithuania and Poland. It will contribute to a more reliable supply of electricity in the southern part of Lithuania.

The 55 km double-circuit line will go through the districts of Alytus, Prienai and Kaišiadorys. It will start at the Alytus transformer substation in Butkūnai village and stretch towards   Kruonis Pumped Storage Power Plant in Maisiejūnai village.

The power line will be built by Litgrid’s contractor chosen through an open tender process, \”Žilinskis ir Co\”. The contract is valued at EUR 23 million.
